FIRE ISLAND CLASSIFIEDS FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What is a free ad?

    A Free Fire Island Classified Ad is an ad consisting of a heading and body (350 characters in length) in one category. It runs for up up to 90 days, and after that it is automatically deleted. You will be notified 5 days in advance by email that your Fire Island Classifieds! ad is about to expire and gives you the opportunity to renew for up to 3 times.

     
  2. Will I be notified when my classified ad has expired?

    Yes, you will be notified by email that your ad has expired. You can then resubmit a new one.

     
  3. What is a valid URL address?

    A valid URL address consists of the name and location of your site. Example: http://www.yoursite.com.

     
  4. What is a valid email address?

    A valid email address has this syntax: yourname@FireIslandClassifieds.com.

     
  5. How many free classified ads can I submit?

    There is no limit of one at this time.

     
  6. How many paid classified ads (free ad with upgrade options) can I submit?

    There is no limit to the number of ads you can submit to The Fire Island Classifieds! as long as you use any of our upgrade options.

     
  7. What is an upgrade Option?

    We offer Ad Options as a means to generate money to keep the The Fire Island Classifieds! going. They are extra things you can do to your free ad to make it stand out and get noticed. For example, you can add a red writing, or bolding, or even place your ad ahead of all free ads for better visibility etc.
     
  8. How long does a Paid Fire Island Classified Ad (ad with upgrade options) stay listed?

    Paid ads, or ads with upgrade options, stay posted for 30, 60 or 90 days based on your preference..

     
  9. Will I be billed any additional money when my ad has expired?

    No, you do not get billed any additional money once your ad has expired. If you resubmit your ad and have it run for another 90 days, you would have to re-enter the ad options and billing information again.
     
  10. In what order are the ads placed?

    Ads are placed with the newest ones on top. Paid ads (ads using any of our "Upgrade Options") are placed before the free ads.

     
  11. How do I find my ad in the listing?

    Click on the category you wanted your ad placed in The Fire Island Classifieds!. Ads will appear by date entered (unless you used any of the upgrade options). Scroll down the ads until you find yours.

     
  12. Will my ad appear in the search engines?

    The Fire Island Classifieds! are listed in all the major search engines. If someone is searching for a particular item in the search engines and you have that word or item in your ad, the page with your ad on it will come up.
